The Rachel Gown is a pleated satin Fortuny jersey gown with slight bell sleeves, turtleneck, grosgrain ballerina ties, and raw edges on sleeves and hem. Mariano Fortuny created immaculate hand-pleated silk gowns for the modern women of the 1920s. His designs rejected the severe corsetry of the previous decades and revealed the sensual form of a woman's body. The fabric selected for this piece is a modern interpretation of that pleating technique.
