OPEN LETTER: A WARM WELCOME

Hello Friend!

Last weekend, I had a booth at Plantation Field International Horse Trials, right outside of Unionville. I spent two days meeting so many wonderful people in the riding community, and showing them what I do in my shop. Many people were happy to finally know what was "going on" in the old Saddle Shop!

On Saturday, I had four separate women tell me that they were intimidated to come into my shop. This was shocking to me for two reasons. Number one: this was the first time I had heard that people were intimidated to come see me. Number two: I work very hard to create an inviting and casual environment. I want people to feel welcome to visit, speak freely, and discuss everything from fabrics to body image. So, I wanted to take this opportunity to let you know a few things about me and my shop!

I am not a fashion diva.
Although I have worked with my fair share of divas in the past, I am not one of them. I keep a casual and inviting atmosphere in my shop. The candles are lit, the coffee is hot, and I’m usually jammin' out to my favorite tunes while I'm working.

I giggle way too much.
I've been told my laugh is contagious and I know my clients get a kick out of it. I don't know what it is, but I love what I do. I get lots of joy speaking with my clients about their lives, and what we can create together.

Kindness is king in my shop.
One of my mantras is "be kind to yourself." I believe that every person is their own harshest critic, particularly when it comes to looking in the mirror. If we can be more kind to ourselves, we can be more kind to others.

I will never pressure you into buying something.
This is a creative process for me and I do not have any "stock" garments in my shop. This means I am never trying to sell a specific piece to a client. Rather, I want to develop a custom piece that is made just for you.

The prices may be more reasonable than you think:

I hope this gives you a better idea of what’s really going on in the old Saddle Shop! I invite you to come take a look the next time you are driving through the little historic town of Unionville, Pa!

With love,

David
